June
Well half of 2018 is already over. Le what.
June had it's ups and downs, but always remains one of the best and exciting months. Summer is approaching, nice weather is in sight, yet it's always overcast with bittersweet note.
The highs:
Blue skies finally emerged here in Seattle.
There was more exploring.
More friends.
More flora.
More fun.
For personal growth I honed in enforcing my bedroom as a tech free zone. This, and my weighted blanket that I received as a birthday present, I've been sleeping so much better. Instead of rolling over to grab and scroll, I'm hopping out of bed ready to start the day.
Even bigger than that, I RAN A HALF MARATHON! Soleil and I spontaneously decided to sign up about two months prior to the race and trained since we hit submit. Half marathon day came and it was way too much fun. I can't wait to do my next one. I'll have another post on that whole experience pretty soon!
The lows:
Career goals. Why are careers so hard? Everyone gives you advice: take your time; go back to school while it's still fresh; get your career started now; you can be or do anything at any point in your time.
Be traditional. Be innovative.
Do this. Do that. Get another degree. Don't go into debt.
Why does it feel so definitive? I don't want to waste time, but I want to make an educated choice. at a certain point you have to do it and accept the repercussions that will come and emerge. So that back and forth has been *fun*. Everyone deserves a good breakdown every once in a while.
Travel. An unofficial goal for the year was to hop on a plane once a month. At the moment, travel has been stagnant, and I only have one major thing planned in the future. This ins't necessarily a low, but more of a bummer.
Weather. Why is it still gray outside? Though summer officially started, the weather has been fluctuating. I NEED SUNSHINE HERE AND NOW.
Goodbyes. Goodbyes mean friends are accomplishing goals and moving forward with their dreams. The cliché of "it's not a goodbye it's a see you later" holds true, but it's harder when you really don't know when you're going to see some of these people again. That's a hard pill to swallow. Sometimes, it's just better to recognize the great times you had and hope that your paths will cross again.
June: ups and downs with the occasional breakdown.
Some cool things from June...
M O N E Y | Everyone could use a little money in their wallet right? Job Spotter through Indeed can help you with that. The app prompts the user to take a photo of a help wanted sign and the business sign. Once uploaded, the pictures will be approved and awarded points which may be redeemed into an Amazon gift card! Who doesn't need one? I've made $50 extra from finding places on my wanderings.
B E A U T Y | With warmer temps and sun exposure, I've been giving more thought to my skincare regimen. Since I'm an absolute sucker for a "deal" (you know the ones where there is free shipping if you spend so much, the sorta deal) I dived into the world of Herbivore and succumbed to the hype. The Seattle based company focuses on natural, nontoxic, organic ingredients and a wholesome product. I've been using the famed PINK CLOUD moisturizer and it is as life changing as people claim.
T U N E S | Ella Mai and Sabrina Claudio check these ladies out! Jam to them all summer long. Thanks Spotify for a rad Discovery Weekly playlist in June!
T E L E V I S I O N | Drop everything you're doing RIGHT NOW, turn on Netflix, and get ready to binge Queer Eye. The fabulous five are here to makeover and change lives. Soleil and I casually started watching season one and proceeded to finish it, and season two merely four days later. Antoni, Bobby, Jonathan, Karamo, and Tan are sassy and sweet, and we're OBSESSED.
S E A T T L E S P O T | Tucked away on Madison in Capitol Hill is hole in the wall (literally) Westman's Bagel and Coffee. The grab and go bagel joint is the perfect little nook to get a bite to eat in the morning. Let me tell you, the everything bagel is EVERYTHING. There are a variety of schmears that will make you smile from ear to ear. For whatever reason, it is so hard to find good bagels in Seattle, and these guys definitely deliver.
